Participants to be introduced to international and EU certified Environmental Management Systems and Eco-labels suitable for for the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Mission 1

Description

Mission 1 is designed to introduce participants to the benefits of implementing international and EU certifications and eco-labels.

Learning objectives

Participants will:

  • Define the term certification.
  • Review Environmental Management Systems and Eco-labels.
  • Review benefits of environmentally certified businesses in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the benefits of implementing international and EU certified Environmental Management Systems and Eco-labels in for the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Duration: 1/2 hour

Mission 2

Description

Mission 2 is designed to introduce participants to leading international and EU Certifications, Eco-labels, Standards and Awards for the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Learning objectives

Participants will:

  • Review international Environmental Management Systems, Eco-labels and Awards and understand their standards.
  • Compare the two formal Environmental Management Systems: ISO 14001 and EMAS.

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the major EMS certifications, Eco-labels, standards and awards for the tourism and hospitality sectors.
  • Compare ISO 14001, EMAS and EMAS Easy standards.
  • Identify the EU Eco Label, Travel Life and Green Key Eco-labels.

Duration: 1/2 hour

Mission 3

Description

Mission 3 is a quiz section of variable difficulty. Participants compete against each other to improve their score, win badges and rise on the scoreboard and leaderboard tables.

Learning objectives

Participants will:

  • Test their knowledge and skills based on the learning objectives of Mission 1 and Mission 2.

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Assess their competences in international certified Environmental Management Systems, eco-labels and awards.
